WoW Fishing Guide

Lets start with a brief introduction to WoW Fishing. ThereafGet The Ultimate WoW Guide Nowter the leveling guide from 1-450 on page 2 of the World of Warcraft fishing guide. The Wow Fishing profession is considered a secondary skill and a gathering skill. Kind of a mini game inside a game as you need to master the "art" of fishing as in real-life. You need to spend a lot of time and have patience to fish.

To start fishing you will need to do 3 things. Firstly, find a fishing trainer. Fishing trainers are NPC's normally located near a body of water. Once you have located one he will teach you fishing. Secondly, Once you have been taught fishing you will have to go find a fishing pole to start fishing. You can purchase one from a trade merchant (sells items for professions) or the auction house. You might also find fishing poles with better skill points throughout the game.

Some poles can only be gained by doing particular quests depending on what faction you are these quests will differ.

Thirdly, you need bait. Bait increases your fishing skill to make it easier to catch fish. Find a trade merchant who sells bait. Bait however wears off after a certain amount of time (just as in real-life),so you need to reapply it often. You can buy better bait for higher bonuses to fishing. In some high level fishing areas you will need Aquadynamic Fish Attractors. These can be created for you by Engineers. Right now you are ready to fish. Remember to find a your first fishing spot nearby your starting location or spawn point.

There are 3 different levels of Wow fishing: expert ; artisan and master. To level up you might need to purchase an in-game fishing guide from a certain character or do certain quest/tasks to gain the level as well.

Just as in fishing when your bobber dips into the water you need to "strike" or right click in this case on the bobber to catch your fish. Wether you will then catch the fish or not depends on your reaction time and skill level. There are various things you can catch when fishing besides just fish. You can also maybe catch clams (clams can be opened and the clam meat used for cooking and maybe inside you might find a valuable pearl), gems (Very rarely will you find gems, such as a lesser moonstone), weapons & armour, humorous items (like a skull), locked chests or lost trade goods.

The fish you catch can either be eaten raw to regain health or cooked (if you have cooking) to gain more health than if the fish was raw. If you dont have cooking give it to a cook to cook for you or it can be used in cooking recipes. Cooked fish species allow for various effects once consumed.

There are many different WoW Fishing Areas with different fishing difficulty levels which require higher fishing skills to fish in these waters. There are also special fishing ponds and floating wreckage areas located throught the world. These allow you to catch special fish, special lockboxes, chests, healing & mana potions, valuable items and many more. However these pools are depleted after fishing 4-6 times. To fish in these special ponds for the special items you will need to cast until you land in the required zone.

Remember any valuable or special items or special fish caught while fishing can also be sold for gold at the auction house.

There is a weekly fishing extravaganza called the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza every sunday where one can "win" prizes such as Nat Pagle's Extreme Angling' Boots which add +5 to you Wow fishing skill. You can also win or get an enchantment to your characters gloves which will boost your fishing skill as well.
