WoW Engineering Guide

For those of you who need to know what it is and how it works. This quick summary is for you.

Engineering is a primary profession and is available to all classes. However the gnomes have the passive racial ability of slightly increased engineering so have a slight advantage. But you can still do great with any other race.

As an engineer you use various types of metals and stones to create parts that you need to make various other items.

The items you can make can mostly only be used by yourself and other engineers. You can make things such as flying machines,helmets, mechanical squirrel pet,guns,jumper cables-to shock a dead person back to life,bullets,dynamite,bombs or charges-to open locked doors etc.. Some items such as repair bots that you can make can repair your gear which is handy for when you are doing raids.Some very cool items indeed.

Engineering and mining go hand in hand as most of the recipes items needed for engineering can be sourced from mining such as Jewels and ores. Therefore engineering can be time consuming as you already know that mining takes a while.

Smelted bars form the majority of engineering items however there are certain odd items needed for recipes that at times you will need to purchase maybe from other players or from the auction house. Some of these ingredients needed can be found in chests or even fished up if you have the fishing skill. Due to the vast amount of different items you may need per recipe ,enginnering can be a bit complex besides time consuming but is still fun never the less as you have plenty of cool toys and tricks up your sleeve like turning someone into a chicken or shrinking them with a ray.

Note: As most items that you make can only be used by other engineers you have a limited market to sell these items to so your gold might be going out more than coming in as you would hope it to.

Remember to speed up leveling you engineer it is obviously quicker purchasing items from the auction house than traversing the globe in search while mining. If you are short of gold , checkout the WoW Gold Guide section

To become a WoW Engineer you need to do the following:

Get your engineer training from a trainer. Note : Engineering supplies are found in many different places. Some of the supplies are from mining and smelting, and some are from vendors or off mobs. Some engineering formula items are created through other engineering formulas so be careful not to get rid of these items as you need them for later on. This will be noted in the keep or sell column below.
